They're not that hard to get into. Literally all you need is a putty knife.
I've done some work on the mini a friend of mine has and it was fairly
straightforward to do surgery on hers.
I've read that the official Apple service tool is a putty knife with a slot
cut into the middle, but obviously you don't believe everything you read on
the interweb :)
