I believe the original RM Nimbus used an 80186. Research Machines is a
UK company that focuses solely on the educational market, so
business/home software compatibility was not much an issue for it. Or
so it thought. In the end, of course, it had to go compatible to
survive.
The BBC Master 512 - a 6502-based BBC Micro with a 2nd processor -
also came with a '186, along with DR DOS-Plus and GEM.
