The
Microsoft/IBM FORTRAN was adequate for teaching FORTRAN 77. But the
performance was AMAZING! It could actually take longer to run a benchmark
like sieve of Erastothanes with compiled FORTRAN than with interpreted
BASIC.
I fear this may be similar. It takes 3 disk of code, just to run the
Pascal compiler ( 280K disk ). If this is any indication, I'd suspect
the final code isn't all that swift. I just want to play with it a
little.
