Take a look
at
the original NeXT machines... the fastest NeXT was a 33 MHz 68040 and it
was very responsive....
And yes, I also have a Turbo Slab, which doesn't suck at all. :)
I have a 25MHz slab and an upgraded Cube... fun stuff. It really
helps, of course, that it's not trying to slog around 24-bits worth of
framebuffer info. One bane of any older platform is when there are
lots of colors and moving windows to deal with.
