I've been given an IBM system 60 (model 8560)
computer
tower, but it won't boot from HD or FD.
Actually, it has a "601" error when booting - bad
floppy drive. Additionally, the floppy does not
spin,
although the light does come on.
If I had a working floppy, I could boot the Set-up
diskette and hopefully configure it to boot off
the
HD?
The floppy drive and interface is non-standard, so
I
cannot just install a modern-day floppy drive.
If anyone has a working floppy drive they'd be
willing
to donate, I'd be a happy camper.
Actually, it is a standard floppy drive. The
easiest way of dealing
with it is to make an adapter. The only difference
between a PS/2
floppy and a PC floppy is that the ribbon carries
signal+power on the PS/2.
