I had been considering a range hood. The ones with a squirrel cage fan
pull an lot of air and they aren't as noisy as the propeller type fans.
I would be a bit concerned about the pressure drop across the HEPA
filter. Frankly, I am not familiar with them but a vacuum cleaner
(centrifugal) blower is capable of rather greater pressure than a
squirrel cage blower - which is designed for volume and not pressure.
The volume of air from squirrel cage and HEPA could be insufficient to
achieve the desired pressure and flow in the box.
