Really? I doubt many can survive - and turn a profit
- with money coming
just from ticket sales, shop, food sales etc.; they all rely on public
donation money, lottery money, government handouts etc. to keep themselves
afloat.
Profit tends to be tiny. Any profit pretty much needs to go into an
endowment, for when things get tight.
But, yes, there are plenty of well run museums that have figured out
how to do it. Public donations and government (or corporate, or trust)
handouts are often, but not always, part of the equation.
