That should have been clarified:
The len, all the glass bits, laser and sensor leave it be and often
they're all in one module. No problem removing the whole thing
if only taking the rails off.
I also agree with claification :). I think we are talking about different
devices; a video disk player vs a cd-rom drive. I've taken a number of
cd-rom drives apart and put them together with no problem ... and they still
worked afterwards!
