That was sort of what I was thinking but I expect that it needs to be
some kind of glue or epoxy that has the same index of refraction as the
original material. I thought perhaps someone on the list had already tried
to repair one.

Hi Joe
I have one of these myself but I don't know if it is a
glass or plastic piece ( I assume you are talking about
the strip that goes across the top of the diode array ).
I would think that some clear epoxy would work. Remove
any excess and also make sure there were no bubbles.
Have a clamping system setup before you use the epoxy
to make sure you can control things. It should use
only a tiny amount.
