a /Y option (effectively, do not confirm) to any command that could
overwrite/delete files and the problem was solved.
At least there was provision for changing objectionable defaults.
There were some tests done a while back (maybe Don Norman or jef Raskin
might know where to find them) that showed that "Are you sure" produced a
conditioned reflex, and people would confirm before they finished reading
the question.
