30.. I'm getting very close to shotgunning the entire IC complement on the

You might be better off using 7406s instead of 7405--better output
current rating.
As far as the 8800 front panel, be wary of the 74Lxx ICs--I seem to
recall that I once tried a straight 74LSxx substitution and it didn't
work. I don't recall why.
