Regarding names, I keep on half expecting Sellam start his VCF presentation
with "Call me Ishmael" or "Call me Sam". (Both are from opening lines
of
good books, one famous, one less so.) If I had his name, I couldn't resist
the joke. Unfortunately, no one would laugh at "Call me Eric." Until they
looked at me, that is.

straightforward. The simulator simply steps
through the code space you
give it based on simulated clocking and executes the instructions as
would the actual CPU.
However he wants to spell it, he does a hell of a job with VCF.
I'm unhappy about missing it again this year.
