What about LaTeX? It's been a few decades since I've used it, but
it did use " \<command> " (backslash-command).
It's not TeX of any sort. I don't know what it is, but having used it
a lot over the past decade, I'm pretty sure it's not. Close, but
that's not how it takes parameters to commands, and there are a few
other inconsistencies.
