I have a Mac Portable with 4 MB RAM, 2400 modem, 40MB
HDD, running System
7.01 Pro.
Nice... I want one, but can never find one at anything resembling a
"realistic" price. Those things hold their value almost as bad as a
TRS-80 Model 100.
Does anyone have any drawing software that"ll run
on it that they'd be
willing to send me?
Me, no, but I think someone else mentioned MacCrypt. Also, lok for a site
run by a guy named Jag.
One other thought, check the liks off the Low End Mac site
http://www.mactimes.com/lowend
I'm also looking for a small web browser and
TCP/IP dialer program for it.
Okay, for TCP, you want a copy of Apple's MacTCP (last version was 2.0.6).
For a PPP dialer, you want MacPPP, an older freeware product.
Three options on the web browser:
1. MacWeb (last version was 2.something)
2. NCSA Mosaic 1.X (2.x is not compatible)
3. MacLynx (text only)
MacLynx is the closest to state-of-the art (i.e., tables, frames).
I also have a few questions:
-Is there any possible way to fit a bigger HD into it? I've been told that
the HD is a special type, and other ones won't work.
The drive is SCSI, just an odd pinout. Try MicroMac (
http://www.micromac.com)
for a cable to use a regular drive. There's a pinout floating around on
the Web, if you prefer to roll your own.
