Thanks for the confirmation--that's what I thought I remembered.
I've got the manual scanned, I'm post-processing it now.
As far as I can tell, it is also only a recorder.
I'm pretty sure I have two of these buried in storage that
became very uninteresting once I figured that out.
Perusing that maintenance manual, it seems that you're right about being a write-only
device, unless there's a special option installed to actually read. The mainual makes
reference to the option, but little more.
The tape speeds probably set a record--ISTR that the manual said 1.8 ips at 556 bpi (!).
Full of DTL, with some Kennedy-custom modules in it.
Eliminating the problem of reading does make for some very simple electronics, however.
None of those nasty read amps, de-skewing, etc.
Interesting, but that's as far as it goes for me.

They're before my 'professional time' so to speak, but I always took it these
"Incremental Recorders" were used for data collection in activities like lab
experiments, monitoring of remote sites, telemetry, etc., anywhere where you might want to
record a data-record per event or at regular intervals. The tapes then being collected for
reading on a full-capability deck and data processing.
Much simpler mechanism and electronics than providing a full-capability deck.
