I've got a couple of cubic feet of MULTICS
manuals, here.
Should I put them in the "to be scanned" pile or the "to
be shredded" pile?

Check what's already been done on bitsavers.
Even if they aren't needed for scanning I'm assiciated with a Historical
Library that would be interested in adding them to their collection. Please
do not recycle these. We're also interested in other historical computer
documentation.
The library does not care if documentation is old and out of date, it is
dedicated to preserving history, and the manuals would not be thrown out or
disposed of.
