The 68020 can actually run with a 8-bit data bus. See Motorola
Application Note AN1015, "68020 Minimum System Configuration", I have
it in my copy of the 16/32-bit Applications Manual, DL409/D. If you
can't find it on-line, I could scan it next week some time.
