The depressing ones are when you run into someone who
says: "yes, I had every
single bit of software for system xyz, but I tossed it out a couple of years
ago". That one's happened *again* in the last couple of weeks, for a line of
machines where surviving software is (currently) very thin on the ground :(
In my case it's usually "last month". It's also typically books rather
than
hardware or software, but then I'm activelly looking for books for the
Historical Library I'm involved with. Thanks to what I've donated there is
a lot of DEC material, and thanks to one of the founders a small selection
of rather old IBM manuals. There are also quite a bit of Microcomputer and
Unix doc's.
