You're always going to have 10% of the folks doing stuff which can
potentially ruin it for the other 90%. I've put a lot of software out
in many forms and I just ignore the folks who are unreasonable. Works
like a charm. The good part is that those who are really helpful remain
really helpful and more than make up for the lusers.
I'd reconcider. Only good can come from yet another way to archive
disks. I've hacked that damn NEC floppy controller too (heh, first time
was in tiny C on a cp/m machine) - it's a pain. But releasing the
source code is *good-thing*(tm). Just ignore stuff which doesn't fit in
your plan. You'll never get people to stop being wierd. It's the way
of the world.
I was going to say a few weeks ago - just put the source code out and
let people do with it what they want. It's a zen thing - you get what
you resist.
