That's a classic. I have read the book, seen
the film and the TV
series many times. Infact, BBC2 (UK) are showing the first series (in
B&W) of Dads Army every Saturday. For me, actors such as Arthur Lowe,
John Le Mesurier, Clive Dunn and Ian Lavendar helped to make it such a
great hit, and a very memorable programme.
BBC 7 (internet, DAB, DTV) has been running the series (along with
The Goon Show, Hancock's Half-hour, Take it From Me...., etc.)
forever, which is where I got acquainted with it. Some of the old
BBC comedy shows were pure genius. --Chuck
Faulty Towers comes to mind as typical BBC classic.
