Worth remembering that if you're near to a university, students will
generally trade *anything* given that they often have no space and no
money - so some really oddball stuff moves about (I've seen half-eaten
boxes of breakfast cereal change hands before now)
University departments are good for getting old hardware from though if
you know the right people - lots of early / mid 90's Unix machines and
associated network gear over the last couple of years, along with 1980's
8-bitters that get found in cupboards every once in a while. The 1970's
stuff seems to have all long gone, though.
