Dick,
It uses a large card in the bottom for the CPU and support circuitry.
There's several cables that come off of it and connect to various other
areas (power supply, monitor, backplane, etc). Above that is a backplane
with about ten or twelve sockets similar to those used in PCs. The cards in
it look very similar to PC cards but they don't have the metal bracket on
the back. Their connectors just stick through the back of the case and
there's one screw located below each connector.
If that's not clear enough I can take a photo and post it for you.

What sort of backplane does it use?

Subject: AEHR / Computest CPM computer?
I picked up a portable computer since it had a
disk in it that said CPM.
I can't get it to boot but it looks
interesting so I thought I'd try to
find out more about it before I decide to fix or junk it.

exposes
two 5
1/4" disk drives and a built in CRT. Inside most of the cards are
marked "Computest Inc Made in USA" but the motherboard is marked "Fox
Motherboard II". A couple of the plug in cards init are marked "64 point
switchboard II" and have 64 pin ribbon cable sockets on the back.
Underneath it has what looks like the CPU card.
On it is what I think is
the CPU. It's hard to read but it looks like it says "SGS Z84008B-1". Is
anyone familar with that chip? I can't find any record on it.
Does anyone
know anything about the computer itself? AEHR makes test equipment, mainly
for IC wafer testing.
I couldn't find anything out about Fox or
Computest.
They're both common names but all the ocurrences that I cound find were for
unrelated businesses.
