I have always used a long handled flat head on the screws under the
handle, and have never run into a problem: the metal in those screw is
harder than the metal most screw drivers are made from.
Using the "right tool" for a job involves a lot more than using a tool
designed for an exact purpose. It involves knowing when you can use a
given tool. If that given tool is a long handled flathead in a torx
screw, so be it. Similarly, sometimes tools are not necessary. That
would be the case for the case cracker. (Prying is rarely necessary
on the first time in, and it is never necessary on the second time
in.)
