Trouble is, if you run things outside of spec to see what goes bang, surely
there's a danger that some of the equipment which survives has had component
life shortened due to the very fact that it's been run out of spec?
Or do you only run things to the limit of the spec, but absolutely no higher?
When it comes to vintage stuff, I'd rather treat it lightly I think, in the
hope of getting maximum lifetime from components which may well fail if put
under serious load. Seems reasonable that things might be rather different in
a production environment, though.
