Yes, that one's got me at least once in the past.
These days I tend to take
lots of photos and/or write down component values before trying to power
something up for the first time...
So do I.
And when I've powered it up, if it seems to be working, I record
important voltages (like PSU outputs, CRT pin voltages, etc).
