On your page,
you mention that one should be willing to pick up
any machine that is offered. While this is a nice thought,
I couldn't even justify the price of gas to pick up a
Actually, I agree with you.
That was something that we came up with... well, I don't know how long
ago. The idea was to promote the willingness of people to advertise
objects on the site.
Not all rules are made to be steadfastly observed - and I think this is
one of those :)
It's more the idea of the philosophy behind the page, and the idea that we
don't want anyone thinking that we're trying to be picky. If an offer comes
to Jpaul for a pallet of 486's, well, he might not want those. He's more
into big iron. But me, I'd find that interesting as I would love to try
doing some things with Linux on them, clusters, etc.
Being a curator on the site doesn't mean you have to take anything that comes
through. What it does mean is that if you find an offer, try to contact
another curator to take it for you if you don't want it, that way the
absolute minimum gets trashed.
That's the whole idea...no one wants to force anything on anyone. :)
