I'm not sure if they spun different PCBs for the
different terminals or
just used a common form factor on the board that would fit into all the
supported enclosures and just sent you different mounting hardware to
put the board inside the terminal. I know if it were me, I'd be doing
the latter and not the former :).
Well, for what it's worth, the manual for the ADDS RG-512 shows a board
shape, and says it's a single board. This Gen II RG-1000 in a Televideo
has two boards, neither the same shape. Apples and oranges, I know.
Given the differences in the base terminals, I'd believe they might have
been unable to achieve one board, but I have no evidence either way.
I did see in one of their ads that on base terminals supporting color,
the Gen II could do color support, acting like a Tek 4027. They also
supported pens and digitizers and such as plug-in options. Explains
some of the unused connectors on my set.
