I've also
tried moving around [...] and all the results I've had are
entirely consistent with the theory that it's resetting the game
state before processing each command. Maybe it just doesn't like
me, or maybe I'm doing something wrong....
Maybe you need cookies enabled?

Yes, of course. But I'd assumed it put that in the URL; that's where I
put it when I did a Web interface to a stateful game (blockade).
Now, well, it has the problem that it scrolls back to the beginning of
the transcript after each command, which is a minor problem. But since
I'm not likely to want to play zork seriously over the web anyway,
that's no big deal; it's still Pretty Cool. It even accepts the
INCANTation which I find I still have memorized from my VMS
zork-playing days. Ah, the things I spend gray cells on.... :-)
