No, but since Al mentioned it, I thought I'd elaborate. The 8473 does
have the distinction that it can successfully work with 128-byte MFM
sectored media, but such stuff isn't common at all and not at all in the
MS-DOS world. Any high-density controller should work in the MS-DOS world.
A lot of people use the FDADAP as a convenient transition from 34 to 50
pin floppy interface. It has the nice feature that it automatically
handles the TG43 signal for those drives that need it:
