Well, there not being many other ways to make holes in inches-thick stacks of paper..
I think they're probably even more common than printing presses. There
are a bunch of printer-only places that have them. Hell, IBM
Poughkeepsie's internal reproduction office (copy center) has one or
two. And no printing presses.
