Don't buy an incredibly light human life-critical reliability aircraft dyno.
Get a tractor PTO, $5K will get you a brand new 75 KW which should run the
average shop quite well (LOL). You'll need a tractor or a large AC motor
with a PTO output. It would be mildly amusing to buy power gear of the
same age you're powering.
Its possible to spend more money trying to run off household power,
especially if you need to upgrade the mains or even the whole breaker box,
than to buy a used generator. Generators are handy for other things too.
Something Very important to note is the "home machinist" community has been
running 3-phase stuff in their basement for a couple decades, they know one
or two things, and something vital is over the last couple decades a
"10-amp" 3-phase VFD has dropped at least one zero from price. So less
than $200 delivered for a brand new no name VFD from China (of questionable
reliability) will get you 2 HP or so, or $500 from AB which is probably
also made in China but critically it passed QA/QC. I have trouble
justifying the scrap iron/copper salvage price to use a dyno or idler when
VFDs are now so cheap.
