something of value that the author deserves
compensation. What about if
the author no-longer makes the thing I copied available, the author
apparently does not want compensation.
Whether they have explicitly chosen not to make something available,
or by lack of action have implicitly caused it not to be available,
they still own the property and the rights to do with it as they
please, at least until such time as the rights expire. And I have
to say that I am entirely against the recent vote to increase the
length of time of copyright.
