On a lark, I bought an old mechanical parking meter with the intention of
putting it in my den. Does anyone else here have at least a passing
fascination with these things? I'm trying to figure out where I can get a
I think I do. I don't own one, but I am fascinated by any mechanical
device, any clock/timer, etc. Heck, I bought a pigeon race timing clock
when I saw it in a charity shop (thrift store). I have no intention of
ever keeping racing pigeons, but the mechanism is interesting...

Hmm... To start with a linght of metal pipe in a block of concrete?
More seriously, over here there are a few companies that restore and sell
'street furniture'. Mostly telephone boxes, but other things too. If
such companies exist Stateside, it might be worth contacting them. If
they don't have a suitable post, they might at least know where to get one.
