- IIRC, the NSFnet funding/expansion/backbone were
slightly later.
1985, but things were not really together until 1986.
The last part of the NSFnet went down a couple years ago, very
quietly. By then it had changed hands a couple of times.
The machine Dan has may have been 'first' at
something but without a further
qualifier any claim of historic significance is pointless.
I think the failure of any of the museums to show any interest has
something to say...
