I would be inclined to phrase that as "May" save you, rather than
"Will".
On the other hand, if there is any failure of the primary between
"rsync's",
then the secondary WILL be incomplete (or otherwise wrong) and content WILL
be effected.
Again...it is a matter of tradeoffs.
Of course, you could always combine RAID (either HW or SW) and the
rsync approach. Space and money permitting, of course
