Yeah. Compare today to 1913....
punch cards have held up well
The last time I used punch cards was around 1980. In school
around 1966,I had a FORTRAN IV (IBM 7094) program of
about 2000 cards. The compiled card deck was about 400 cards
which was quite reasonable.
Over the years, I tried to save programs from both years, but
although I had a dry, cool storage, they started to warp quit
substantially. Since I have nor seen any card readers for over
20 years, there did not seem to be much of an alternative.
As others have noted, the oldest program was saved on paper.
