Derrick, how old are you? No offense, it's just that we had some confusion
of this sort on a classic phone list I subscribe to not very long ago... We
thought a new member was a little "duh" but it just turned out that he was
12 years old... Technology is becoming available to younger and younger
folks all the time and we are going to encounter more and more the
situation where younger kids are playing with electronics, or old computers
or phones and they're gonna surf the Web and learn about our lists and
inevitably maybe even try to join up and post.
Once it became clear that the poster wasn't even in high school yet, we
changed tack a little. Really, this sort of thing can be positive for
everyone; it's an opportunity for the kid to learn a thing or two about
technology as well as how to properly comport themselves in an e-mail or
message board where you are conducting a technical discussion, and it's an
opportunity for us older folks to pass on our knowledge to an interested
younger generation... Hopefully?
Best,
Sean

You're kidding, right?
