I think MAI here in the US used to buy up old IBM
card
gear, refurb,
then lease it out again.
At University (UT-Arlington) we had scores of former IBM 026 keypunches from MAI that were
refreshed, painted blue (from IBM 026 battleship grey), and (I think) refitted with 029
character set.
