When we had our first exhibition in 1988 or so, there was a start-up company
called "Dump Data", where the attached the meaning of "low price" to
"dump"
I dont think they sold a lot to the mainframe community.. :-)

At least, that's what I remember it is, and
an abend dump is like a core
dump or crash dump on your modern system.
It is - and if you don't know why it's called a "dump" you've never
had to
wade through one :-)
