? Don't doubt that "fabled HP quality" for a second.? I've spent a lot
of time lately calibrating and getting my RF gear running again.? A
network analyzer (not computer related), RF signal generator, spectrum
analyzer...There are single modules in those, like mixers or oscillators
that, if you were to drop one on your foot, you'd be going to the
hospital.? And DEAR GOD I've never seen so much gold.

C: I also used to use a lot of HP test equipment years ago. They weren't the only ones
around, much of the EMC receivers and whatnot were made by different companies (EMCO was
one IIRC). But when they went NC or CNC, they always seemed to hook up to an HP computer,
running HP BASIC.
?I'm not saying they didn't earn their reputation in the earlier years. Just that
the quality wasn't always there into the 80s and 90s in particular. I don't know
anyone who doesn't love their HP calculators, but it's awful disheartening when
they crap the bed w/so little use. The legendary HP bedrock quality wasn't there in
the green and brown days I'm afraid.
