It is actually battery-backed DRAM storage, with the SCSI disk as fallback.
The most interesting thing was the optimization that if read or write gate isn't
asserted after the address header, it asserts the sector
pulse again, skipping the data field rotational latency.
Pretty late patent, given the technology it was
