Nickel-cobalt alloy, usually, sputtered onto a phosphorous-nickel
electroless coating (phosphorous-nickel isn't magnetic; pure nickel
is, slighly). Some sort of protective coating is usually deposited
onto the nickel-cobalt.
There are also high-performance multi-layer coatings.
