Also, is their a web site with information on pdp-11
boards, similar
to the PDP8 omnibus lists and such that are available? i'd like to
be able to look up what should be common boards, such as LSI-11
cpus, 32K 18 bit MOS memory boards, various serial and parallel
interface cards, etc.

For the PDP-11/VAX boards these are the lists:
http://metalab.unc.edu/pub/academic/computer-science/history/pdp-11/hardwar…
http://world.std.com/~mbg/pdp11-field-guide.txt
For everything else try:
ftp://zane.brouhaha.com/pub/ModuleList.txt This has *everything* found on
the various PDP-8 lists, and a *LOT* that isn't. It's still a work in
progress, and I've not found time to mess with it in months. Basically I
got tired of having to check several lists when looking up non-PDP11/VAX
boards.
