yes... wrong ;-) At least for one datapoint,
I have an Anderson-Jacobson branded ASR-33 which has an AJ 300 baud
acoustic coupler built into the right side of the '33 where the dialer
(for TWX) was usually placed.
This modem plugs into an internal MOLEX connector at the back of the
'33 and talks on the 20mA loop directly. No RS232 involved.
