I'm reasonably sure that the MicroVAX II (KA630)
didn't use a cache
because the CPU cycle time matched the memory cycle time exactly.
Well, it does have cache of a kind. When I was working on my KA630
emulator, I found that it has an instruction prefetch buffer which is
not cleared by setting $MAPEN. (An I-stream prefetch buffer is not a
cache in one usual sense of the term, but is in another.)
