Not rare, just expensive. Unless you have a cozy relationship with your
SGI office, they want to sell you a service and support contract before
selling you the media and wanted to charge me $600 for a media set. All
for a $100 Indy. So I bought one on ebay for a much more reasonable amount.

I just got
myself an Indigo2 R8000.
and the cool thing is I actually got a copy of IRIX 6.5 with it, I now
have IRIX media Yay!
I wasnt aware Irix CD's were at all rare.
