Micropolis floppy drives were very well-made. I wish that modern
drives could be as well-built. All of mine are still operational.
North Star, on the other hand, did some very oddball things with
their kits. Such as supplying TO-99 ICs when they couldn't get the
DIP-8 version. ("Just bend the leads, okay?").
