Erm, I know some of the people involved with this "Battle," and,
according to them, at the time, the PC jr. was directly aimed to be a
grinch for the Mac's Christmas, not the //c. Worked, too. Apple almost
tanked. If it weren't for Woz's insistence that Apple continue
production of the Apple II series, with its consistent, steady, cash
flow, Apple would have foundered. IBM was REALLY annoyed with Apple for
implying (in their ads) that IBM was doing a disservice to their
customers, and the PC jr's marketing was designed to slow sales of the
Mac, even down to a very similar kiosk for sales display. More details
