Does anyone here have an RA81 that works? In somewhat
regular use?
Four of them (assuming you'll count RA82s as well). My biggest concern
is that the heads are only good for so many takeoff/landing cycles, so it's
best to leave the drives spinning 24x7. As you've said, the HDAs are the
most common failure - the rest of the drive is pretty reliable.
BTW, I'd love to find a working HDA for an RA80 (not 81 or 82) to make my
730 "like new" again.
