Despite all the horror stories, even 2.1 wasn't that bad.
I ran a production Solaris 2.1 server at Amoco
back in 92. Sparc 10 boot and application server.
Ran fine for 3 years before natural business politics upgraded it.

I heard enough horror stories from guys at Ohio State about Solarises
2.1 through 2.3 that I intentionally sat on the sidelines until I was
forced to go with Solaris 2.4. By then, the worst of it had passed.
I didn't have any real complaints about it or 2.5.1.
